Problems downloading a report

I set the data of that specific campaign on which I have to make the report, I set the date range, but when I export the report in pdf the exported data are from another campaign despite the fact that on Looker I see the correct data, how can I solve this problem? Every time I have to report on this specific campaign, it’s a mess

I am running into a similar issue. Regardless of which of my accounts I select, when downloading the report it defaults to a different account every time. We have tried across 11 different devices, multiple reports, and multiple different accounts.

I too am under the scope of this issue. It seems i am once again, at a loss when it comes to using looker studio.

We have the SAME issue - This is affecting ALL LookerStudio reports we have (there are many) that we have been using for well over a year, in several cases years, without issue.

We use the default Google Ads connector and select 1 account from the drop-down list. Everything on the screen looks good, but when we download it any tables that contain Campaign data have ALL accounts, not solely the account selected in the data control.

What is see on the screen in the Campaign table is correct, what gets downloaded is ALL accounts.

What I see on the screen:

What gets downloaded (these are from completely different Google Ads accounts):

@Rick_E I am unsure if tagging you is within the guidelines for this forum, but would you be able to escalate this issue to the support team over there to attempt a fix. It appears that multiple users are experiencing the same issue. Thank you!

I have the same issue - In the preview / edit of the report everything is ok, but in the downloaded pdf data is from the wrong account

Any updates from Google on this??

Hi folks, sorry for the trouble. A couple of questions if someone can clarify:

  1. Do these reports use the data control to select different accounts? If not, how are you selecting specific accounts?
  2. Does the problem happen on only existing reports or can you reproduce it on a new report?
  3. Can someone please share a report that demonstrates the problem with us? (If possible, remove any sensitive data or PII). Be sure to use Owner’s Credentials and share the report with Edit permission to data-studio-help@google.com.
  1. Yes, they use a data control set to ‘Google Ads’ which always worked with no issues.

  2. I just created a new report and the problem persists.

  3. I’ll try to get it done asap, but if someone else can do it right away that would be great.

In my case:

  1. yes, it uses data control
  2. it sure does recreate error if I copy / duplicate the template; not sure about completely newly created ones

I have multiple templates and in two of them there is such error, and in multiple others there is not. What I’ve noticed the common element of these two that it is the issue with the google ads data for sure (ones not using google ads are fine); and the second one is that each uses also the table with conversions list. (segment conversion type name)

Just checked if this is the issue with the segment conversion, but nope, without it there still is the bug. Also checked if there is the issue with a filter set, but also not.

  1. Yes

  2. Reproduceable

  3. Email with example sent

FYI, to add some more context @Rick_E it SEEMS to be caused by the default data connector in the template we all use at my company.

We typically start with one of the Google templates. The issue is 100% reproduceable when using the Google Ads Overview template (I haven’t checked the other Google provided templates)

HOWEVER, I just tried creating a brand new Looker report from a BLANK template with a new Google Ads connection, and that works as expected. What I see is what gets downloaded.

That said, I genuinely don’t know how (or if it’s possible) to get the list of ALL of our accounts (not just limited to 50 selected) without using the template from Google. We have nearly all of our Looker based reporting set to be able to select any of our accounts using that drop-down list of ALL accounts.

FYI @Rick_E did more testing and 100% confirmed this is caused by Looker’s default data control with Google Ads selected as data source.

Affects both existing and new reports.

If I instead make a drop-down list of selected accounts then what is downloaded matches on-screen display as expected.

Not being able to use the default data control is a big issue for us, it is used in nearly every Looker report we have created. Hope it gets fixed soon! :crossed_fingers:

To add to this, in my reports the data source is set to

[Sample] Google Ads

Using the data control and selecting a client’s ads account changes the data to theirs, but when downloading the report it shows the 0s from the sample ads account. This was not the case in the past and only started recently.

Interestingly, the issue doesn’t happen when using a data control with Google Analytics - that downloads just fine, but has a different bug where the downloaded document omits the account name from the data control as can be seen in this screenshot: https://imgur.com/ogJg9H3

I’ve reproduced the problem on our end and the developers are taking a look. Apologies for the trouble.

BTW @jmedias I did notice the blank GA data control once during testing but now I can’t reproduce it. Let us know if this always happens for you or whether it’s transient.

Confirming the blank GA data control issue is always happening. I just tried from 3 different machines (1 in a different state via remote login) and the issue persists.
