Downloaded PDFs Not Respecting Data Controls

I am utilizing a report-level data control drop-down (connector type: Google Analytics). This allows me to select any of the GA properties that I have access to under my google account. When selecting a particular GA property on the drop-down it will show all the correct metrics while viewing the report (I have verified the values are correct and match in Google Analytics), but when downloading the report this data control drop-down is completely ignored and it reverts back to the default as if the nothing in the drop-down was ever selected.

I have attached a screenshot trying to illustrate when I am explaining, on the left side is what the default values are and what prints every time no matter what is selected, on the right are the correct values that should be printed and that display when viewing the report.

Hi, I’m experiencing the exact same problem. For about four years, I’ve had a report designed for several clients, with a “GA4 report” selector. I generate it at the beginning of each month with all the results from the previous month. It worked perfectly until the report generated in March 2026. Since April 3rd, when I tried to generate it, it stopped exporting correctly to PDF; it’s stuck with the default filter. I haven’t found a solution.

Thank you for your reply, hopefully this will help the post get some visibility. I started having the issue at the same time you did, weeks prior to the data studio rebrand. I have tried countless solutions and workarounds and none of them work. I hope a dev or someone responds to this thread eventually.

We are experiencing a bug with the PDF export function in Looker Studio. While the report renders correctly in the browser, the export process fails to capture the user’s active session state. Specifically, when using the Google Analytics data source selector, the PDF reverts to the default data source and ignores any user-applied filters. The resulting PDF reflects the ‘base’ report configuration rather than the filtered data visible on screen.

We are having the same issue since last month. The PDF doesn’t respect the filters and downloads the default source. Hopefully they can fix this bug soon.

That honestly sounds like the export function is caching or forcing the default GA property instead of respecting the active report-level control state. I’ve seen similar issues in dynamic dashboards where filters work perfectly in preview mode but fail during PDF/CSV generation. Could be a limitation or bug in how the connector handles rendering. Weirdly reminds me of some game launcher bugs where settings apply in-game but reset during exports or syncs, especially in projects and ports like Cuphead Android Port.

Replying again here so this thread does not die. Issue has not been resolved. Can a dev or manager please acknowledge this as seen please.

Again replying here so this thread does not die. Issue still not resolved, hoping for a response. If anyone knows of a better way to report issues like these please let me know, its been months of using a workaround that is very inconvenient and unsustainable.

I have been working with a Google tech. They should have a fix in place in less than 2 weeks.

Hello,

we are experiencing the same issue here. Keeping the thread alive.

We’re also having the same issue when selecting a data source within the report when exporting to a pdf we get the following error Data Set Configuration Error
Data Studio cannot connect to your data set. So it looks like it’s reverting to the Default selection as mentioned earlier in the thread.

Hey there, also replying because we are facing the same issues mentioned above and are looking for a fix. Keep the thread alive!

Hello SunnyD is this true? Do you have in on email?
