I have temporarily exceeded a Cloud Shell limit

Dear Google Cloud Community,

I am encountering an issue when attempting to access and launch **Google Cloud Shell** in the console. I am a new user to the platform and I am feeling frustrated as I cannot resolve this. **Problem Description:** After clicking the Cloud Shell icon, I receive an authorization request, but the process fails or the “Authorize” button does not respond correctly. The exact prompt I see is: > **“Cloud Shell needs permission to use your credentials to make Google Cloud API calls. Click Authorize to grant permission to this and future calls.”** **Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:** 1. Cleared browser cookies and cache. 2. Restarted my computer. 3. Attempted access using **Incognito/Private mode** and a different browser (Edge/Firefox), but the issue persists. 4. Ensured I am logged in with only one (the correct) Google Account. 5. All browser extensions (AdBlock, etc.) are disabled. **Additional Information (Optional but Helpful):** * Time of Last Attempt: Today, October 21, 2025, around 11:05 AM CEST. * Project Number: (PII Removed by Staff). Could you please advise on what steps I should take next, or if this is a known platform issue? I need access to the terminal to proceed with my tasks.

Thank you very much for your help!

This issue usually happens when browser-based authorization for Cloud Shell is blocked or fails to register. Since you’ve already cleared cache, tried different browsers, and disabled extensions, the next steps are to ensure pop-ups and third-party cookies are fully allowed for console.cloud.google.com, and that your Google Account has the required IAM role (roles/editor or higher) on the project. If that doesn’t resolve it, try accessing Cloud Shell from a completely different network or device to rule out firewall/proxy issues, or use the Cloud Shell mobile app as a temporary workaround. Persistent failures like this can sometimes be a platform-side bug, in which case waiting a short period and retrying or reporting via GCP support is necessary.
