“Some items on the page have not been updated” returns after a View-only reload

A BigQuery-backed report displays “some items on the page have not been updated” beside its native “Data last updated” footer. Tables, scorecards and a bar chart visibly render without an obvious component-level error.

We tested this sequence entirely in View mode:

  1. Used Refresh data once and waited for rendering to complete. The warning disappeared and the footer timestamp advanced.
  2. Performed one normal browser reload and waited for rendering to complete. The warning returned beside that same timestamp.
  3. No editing, paused-update actions, filter changes or date changes occurred between refresh and reload. Displayed values and source-capture information remained unchanged.

Earlier, temporarily removing a suspected bar chart and opening a fresh saved View did not clear the warning. The chart was restored. Updates had previously been paused during editing, but this latest test involved no editing or pause/resume actions.

The inspected BigQuery jobs completed without errors, although we understand this does not establish every component’s freshness.

Questions:

  • What specifically triggers this footer warning?
  • Is there a supported way to identify the affected component or data source?
  • Could cached results or retained session state explain this behavior?
  • What minimally disruptive diagnostic would distinguish expected freshness behavior from a report issue?
