Procedure to Completely Delete Standalone Organization Nodes and Unlink Billing Accounts on Personal Account

Hi everyone,

I am looking for advice on how to clean up my Google Cloud setup after experimenting with the platform.

While learning Google Cloud, I ended up creating two standalone Organization nodes under my personal @gmail.com account. I do not need these organizations and want to ensure everything is completely cleaned up so no charges ever occur.

Here is what I am trying to resolve:

  1. Organization Deletion: In IAM & Admin > Manage Resources, the Delete option for both organization nodes is grayed out. Since I am using a personal account (and don’t have a Google Workspace domain or access to admin.google.com), how can a personal account user remove these empty organization nodes?

  2. Billing Profiles in Payments Center: All my projects are shut down, and the billing account in the Cloud Console shows Closed with $0 spend. However, in my Google Payments Center (payments.google.com), the billing profiles still show up under Active Subscriptions with default auto-charge disclaimers.

My questions for the community:

  • Is having all projects shut down and billing accounts closed enough to guarantee $0 spend, even if the empty organization nodes and payment profiles remain listed?

  • Is there any administrative step I am missing to fully unlink or clear these profiles from a personal account?

To clarify, I haven’t been charged and I’m not asking for a refund. I just want to ensure my setup is completely inactive and safe.

What I’ve already done:

  • Shut down all projects under both organizations.

  • Closed the linked Google Cloud Billing Account in the console (Status: Closed, Spend: $0.00).

  • Checked IAM & Admin options, but organization deletion isn’t available for my account type.
