Problems downloading a report

FYI to everyone experiencing this issue. I have a temporary workaround, but it is limited - you can only attach up to 50 accounts to the Google Ads data source.

The issue we are all having with our downloaded reports is being caused by the *default Google Ads data control.

If you create a new Google Ads data source (limited to 50 accounts) & then remove that default Google Ads data control from your Looker report, then add a drop-down list control (make it report level & use Account as the control field) then your downloads will work OK.

You can make additional copies to attach to addtl. accounts. I have 1 report that I’ve made 3 copies of to attach to a total of 131 accounts (so far). It’s a pain to have all these copies, but the downloads work as expected.

Use a drop-down list, NOT the data control

Hope that helps :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you. It’s very hacky and limiting - I still hope we will get an official fix from Google asap.

Agreed. Haven’t seen any updates from Google since 4/3

Bumping this topic. We’re going over a month without a fix. May reporting is coming in two days. Please anyone @ Google can we get a status update?

Google our new month is about to begin. It is very necessary we have reporting resolved so we dont go another month without data. Please.

This is completely ridiculous. Looker studio is basically unusable / useless at this point and in our company we had to go back to manual reports, because we can’t just wait for this fix…

Bumping this again as over a week has past since the last bump with no update.

Been using ctrl+p - reports take so much longer to make since this issue started

We have employees seeing the same issue, data shows fine, but is blank once downloaded. It does seem to show manually inputted data, but anything using the default data control doesn’t seem to show in the report

We’ve been experiencing this issue for going on two full months now. It appears Google doesn’t have any desire to fix it and make the reporting functional.

Rick_E, is this still being worked on by the developers? We haven’t seen any updates since early April.

I’m up to 5 copies now of 1 report with the cumbersome workaround I figured out.

This is about the length of time I had become aware of this issue as well. I am hoping that more people bringing attention to the issue will result in more movement towards a resolution.

I just hope enough collective frustration with this will help them see the impact it is having.

Pinging again as it is now going on three full months without reporting.

Four months.

Can we get an update? it has been almost 4 full months

I found a workaround for me. It’s the same thing that Ihana47 wrote, but I don’t think I fully understood her example earlier. Maybe this description will help someone.

I was using two fields: an Account Selector to choose the Google Ads account, and a Drop-down list with the Control Field set to Campaign. I noticed that since the issues started occurring, some campaigns from certain accounts no longer appear in the list.

I’ve now added a new data source from Google Ads, but this time specifying a single account (previously, I had one data source with access to all Google Ads accounts).
If I now assign this new source to both the campaign selection list and all the charts, everything seems to be working correctly.

Note: The names were translated from the Polish interface, so they might not be exact.

The whole point of the drop-down list is to build reports for multiple clients from a single source. What you’re suggesting means duplicating the entire report for each client, which is way more work than just hitting Ctrl+P until Google gets their act together and fixes it.

I couldn’t figure out how to create this new data source - Any updates from Google on why these reports don’t work?

Would love to be using them for reporting…

We’re now at 5 or 6 months of this issue with no word from anyone @Google with a solution. Please someone fix. This topic has been viewed just short of 3,000 times with 58 comments. Clearly it’s a known issue and bug that is not being worked on. There’s a clear demand for a fix. Do something.

And there’s still no solution! Hello, Google! Wake up call! It’s been 4 months since we’ve had this obvious interface bug!
