Google Skills Arcade 2026: Prize Counter Update

If you’ve been part of our Google Skills Arcade family for a while, you know the rhythm we’ve shared: the excitement of two Prize Counter openings every year. It’s been our favorite way to celebrate the miles you’ve covered.

This year, the road has a bit of a detour.

Due to some persistent shipping constraints that are out of our hands, we’re moving to a single, unified Prize Counter opening at the end of this year. Instead of two windows, we’ll have one focused moment to redeem your points and grab your swag.

We know this feels like a big shift. Having only one chance to claim your rewards is a change we didn’t take lightly, and we truly understand if it feels a little bittersweet. Your patience means the world to us while we navigate these logistics to make sure your rewards actually reach you.

Prize Counter Update (1)

The Win You Carry With You
While the prize window is changing, the heart of the Google Skills Arcade remains exactly where it’s always been. We’ve always said that the best things you “win” here don’t come in a box:

  • The Skills are Yours: Every lab you tackle and every complex challenge you overcome is a permanent power-up for your future in the cloud.

  • Growing Every Day: The Google Skills Arcade isn’t just about the finish line; it’s about the curiosity and grit you show every time you log in.

  • Always Learning: The opportunity to build, explore, and level up is still wide open, every single day of the year.

What’s Popping Up Next?
We aren’t just shifting the calendar; we’re also refocusing on what makes the Google Skills Arcade special. Moving to a single redemption window will allow us to ensure that the rewards experience is meaningful, sustainable, and, above all, fair for everyone.

To support this longer journey, the number of points required for each tier may be increased, and we are currently polishing a new Prize Tier structure designed to celebrate true progress.

We want to ensure that the Google Skills Arcade remains a space for those who are genuinely here to learn and build. While swag is a fun part of the journey, it’s the skills and the integrity of the community that matter most.

This new structure is our way of making sure that your hard work and dedication are recognized in a way that is fair to everyone. We’ll be sharing the full details of these new tiers with you very soon, so please stay tuned.

Thank you for the heart you bring to this community. We see the real work you’re doing in every lab and every challenge, and we’re so proud to be a part of your learning story.

Keep exploring. Keep building. Most importantly, keep growing!

See You In The Cloud!

ok thats just a bad news

That’s a long waiting time excluding the extra shipment time of 3-4 months that logistics takes, but what about the cohort duration??

6 month or 1 year?? As the prize counter will open once a year.

It’s very wrong way of running the program…. It’s should be implemented in the beginning of the program…. Being an reputed organization…how you can change the rules and regulations in the middle of the program???… it’s not good …none of the participants will support this immature rules and regulations in the middle of the program

I think this update solely depends on how they are able to execute and plan it anyways there are many things they haven’t said so I think we would need to be patient

Dear Google Team,
@Yugali
First of all you gave us the update very late, like 3 months have passed in season 1.

Also we should get more labs and challenges for the ones who started late this year.
Like we should have fair chance to win the highest prize tier.

One more thing, If you can provide a plan or calendar for the labs and challenges then it would be so much helpful to us.
And could you please shows us the prizes and prize tier early in this year, instead of showing us the prize tier in last couple of days.

Please take this issue into consideration.

Thanks team.

@Yugali I would like to address the recent update regarding swags and points.

Many of us have been consistently participating since January, investing significant time and energy into these labs under the impression that the rewards would match the effort required for the top tiers. Now, three months into the season, the program is being ‘rebalanced’ and rewards are being reduced.

This feels fundamentally unfair for a few reasons:

  • Lack of Prior Notice: If these changes were announced in January, we could have decided whether the time investment was worth it.

  • Sunk Cost: We have already spent months working toward specific goals that have now been moved or diminished. If we knew this would happen, we could have started later or allocated our time to other professional certifications.

  • Respect for Effort: For those aiming for the Legend or Champion tiers, the reduction in swag value or availability feels like our hard work is being undervalued.

We ask the team to honor the original expectations for those who have been active since the start of the year, or at least provide a ‘legacy’ prize tier for early starters who have already put in the work. Transparency is key to maintaining trust in this community.

Thank you for listening.

@Yugali I would like to share some honest feedback regarding the recent changes in the Arcade program.

From previous seasons, participants clearly understood the structure—multiple cohorts across the year and prize counter openings aligned with those timelines. Many of us joined with those expectations in mind and planned our efforts accordingly.

Introducing a major change like shifting the prize redemption to the end of the year and limiting the program to a single cohort—especially in the middle of an ongoing cycle—feels quite unfair to current participants. It disrupts the consistency that learners rely on and reduces motivation for those who have already invested significant time.

As a first-time participant, I was genuinely excited and had set personal goals based on the earlier system. This sudden shift is discouraging and makes the journey feel uncertain.

I truly respect the Arcade program and what it offers, but I hope the team considers either revising this decision or providing a fair transition plan for current participants. Consistency and transparency are what make programs like this trustworthy.

@Yugali Thanks for coordinating this.

I look forward to collecting many a badge. I can get caught in a “gameloop” between Cloud/Dev/cloudonair/google+ so it is nice to see it being streamlined.

Anyhow too much to do “cyberside” but is there a hashtag or particular landing page I can send people to (in return for swag).

@Yugali Worst decision ever from arcade team. Actually I feel that there is no that high difficult for delivering swags because on the previous seasons swags were delivered successfully. And then it’s too bad to change the rules and regulations in middle of the season. Never expected this. And for my other fellow arcaders, we are the reason for these changes because when we got swags on the past seasons, we posted about it everywhere on social media which resulted in more people joining arcade for swags. And so the quality and quantity of swags decreased and these changes came to place. So when you get swags for 2025 arcade season 2 , please don’t show off the swags in internet. Thanks.

It is truly disappointing to see this sudden change after months of consistent effort and dedication. Many of us have been investing our time daily, believing that the structure and rewards would remain fair and predictable.

Changing the prize system and increasing the points requirement at this stage feels unfair to participants who have already committed significant time based on the previous format. For many learners, the rewards are not just about “swag,” but also about recognition and motivation.

While we understand that logistical challenges like shipping constraints can occur, such major changes should be communicated earlier and handled in a way that respects the effort already put in by participants.

Additionally, if changes are unavoidable, it would be more meaningful to offer practical and valuable rewards that align with a tech audience—such as external hard drives, pen drives, or other useful tools. This would make the effort feel more worthwhile and relevant to learners like us.

At this point, it feels discouraging to continue with the same level of motivation when the outcome has become uncertain and less rewarding. If the primary goal is skill development, it would be more transparent to position the program accordingly rather than tying it to rewards that may change midway.

We sincerely hope you reconsider the impact of these decisions on your community and take steps to ensure fairness for those who have already invested their time and effort.

Thank you.

Another important concern that needs attention is the role of facilitators and how the program is being represented.

Many facilitators promote the program primarily around rewards and provide step-by-step guidance or scripts that allow participants to complete tasks without genuinely understanding the material. This creates an imbalance where individuals who are not truly engaging with the learning process are still able to earn rewards.

As a result, those who are sincerely investing time and effort to learn and build skills feel overlooked and discouraged. It also affects the overall integrity of the program, which is meant to support real learning and growth.

We request that stricter measures be implemented to ensure fair participation—such as better monitoring of activity, discouraging misuse, and rewarding genuine effort rather than just completion.

Creating a level playing field will help restore trust and ensure that the program benefits those who are truly committed to learning.

Thank you.

Hi Yugali,
I participated in the March 2026 Google Skills Arcade Base Camp and earned some points. Since the Prize Counter is now shifted to a single redemption at the end of the year, I just wanted to confirm whether my points will remain valid until then, even if I don’t participate in future base camps.

Thanks for your time and for the update!

While I understand the logistical challenges behind moving to a single Prize Counter window, I’d like to share a few suggestions that could help maintain engagement and motivation within the community:

  • Certification Vouchers as Incentives:
It would be highly beneficial if certification vouchers could be reintroduced, either for top performers (e.g., top 5-10%) or as milestone-based rewards. This would provide a more skill-oriented incentive aligned with the platform’s learning goals.

  • Quizzes and Leaderboards:
Reintroducing quizzes similar to previous editions could help participants assess their understanding and identify knowledge gaps. Even if these quizzes don’t contribute points, maintaining a leaderboard (without rewards) would encourage healthy competition and consistent engagement.

  • Participant Feedback Portal:
Establishing a structured feedback mechanism directly for participants-not just facilitators-would allow the community to share insights, challenges, and suggestions more effectively. This could significantly improve the overall experience and help the program evolve based on real user input.
