Hi Google Developer Community,
I’m seeking help with a stalled Gmail API OAuth verification for my app ToInbox (Project ID: job-pilot-495101).
ToInbox is a Chrome extension that helps individual job seekers send personalized emails from their own Gmail to contacts at companies with publicly posted job openings. Single user, single send, user-initiated each time. Not bulk, not commercial.
Timeline:
- Initial verification submitted — May/June 2026
- Jun 24: Rejected by Trust & Safety citing “unsolicited commercial mail”
- Jun 25: Replied with full use case clarification and policy argument (fits approved use cases #1 and #3)
- Jun 25–Jul 1: No response (5+ working days)
- Jul 2: Resubmitted via console with updated scope justification, demo video (was submitted earlier as well)
My concern:
The rejection cited “unsolicited commercial mail” — however our emails are personal job applications, not commercial messages. Prohibited use case #7 in the policy explicitly targets commercial bulk messaging. Our use case fits approved categories #1 (web email client) and #3 (generative AI / mail merge for productivity).
Asking for:
- Any Google staff who can escalate or review this case
- Advice from developers who’ve been through a similar rejection and successfully appealed
Happy to provide any additional information. Thanks in advance.
