Gemini 2.5 Flash - Depreciation && Australia Roadmap

I received the email this week that Gemini 2.5 Flash would be discontinued for new users. Gemini 2.5 Flash is the only model deployed in my region (Australia) and it made me wonder about the future.

I would love to know:

  1. Will Gemini 3.5 Flash come to the region once 2.5 is fully depreciated?

  2. Will Gemini 2.5 Flash be given a longer shelf life in the region if there is no plan to bring 3.5 deployments?

  3. Will regional deployments of Gemini end after the full depreciated of 2.5 Flash?

As a side note, I’m building voice agents, so regional deployments are a must because of latency.

I’ve just become a bit nervous that I’ve received communication regarding our region’s only deployment ending, but no communication regarding when/if a replacement is coming.

I seems like 3.5 regional deployments have been marked for India, Singapore and Japan, but Australia was not included. I guess this is google’s way of telling us they are ending regional deployments for the region :confused:

Is there no way to achieve data residency in Australia with the latest Google models? There is with other models on other providers.
