I’m a solo founder running a one‑person Google Workspace domain with Google AI Ultra for Business enabled. I’m the only user and also the super admin.
Right now, Gemini chat in Workspace behaves very differently from the consumer version: there is no way to delete individual chat conversations, and no “clear all history now” option for my own account. My only controls are global conversation history and time‑based retention. That might make sense for large enterprises with stringent compliance requirements, but it feels unnecessarily restrictive and frankly counterintuitive for small businesses where the administrative and end-user roles are the same.
As the owner of my data and the person legally responsible for it, I should be able to:
Delete specific Gemini chat threads that are no longer needed or that contain sensitive material I don’t want stored long‑term.
Immediately purge all existing Gemini chat history for my own account if I decide that’s appropriate for my business.
Not having per‑chat deletion makes Gemini feel “write‑only”: I can generate and store information, but I can’t clean up after myself beyond waiting for retention to eventually expire. That discourages me from using Gemini for exactly the kinds of higher‑value, sensitive work that AI Ultra is supposed to support. In practice, it pushes me toward other AI tools where I have finer‑grained control over my own history.
Requested changes:
Admin‑level toggle to enable manual per‑chat deletion in the Gemini UI for Workspace users.
An admin control to immediately wipe all Gemini chat history for a specific user (including the admin).
These controls could default to “off” for large organizations, but they are crucial for small tenants and solo‑admin domains that want AI power without giving up basic control over their own content.
I’m happy to take responsibility for my own data retention and compliance posture. What I need from Google is the option to manage Gemini chats with the same flexibility I already have for Gmail, Drive, and other Workspace apps.
Is anyone from the Gemini / Workspace product team able to comment on whether this is on the roadmap? If not, I’d strongly urge you to prioritize it. This is a key blocker for my long‑term adoption of Gemini in my business.
