The lack of this feature is a dealbreaker for our team.
I came across this when trying to figure out why I couldn’t delete individual chats. I’m a solopreneur who admins my own Workspace. I couldn’t believe I as the admin can’t even delete my own individual conversations. I’ve had a bunch of small, quick conversations that are cluttering up my chats.
Would like to kindly ask for the ability to delete individual chats + the ability to organize chats too.
Thanks for the consideration!
It is bonkers, I agree, I don’t know why a Google PM responsible for this product would say…”Yep…good enough, nobody is going to want to do that…” Yet here we are.
I’ve just found out this hadn’t been possible. This feature should be implemented immediately.
Google has always encouraged users to use the Search function to find information. They believe that no matter how cluttered the sidebar is, users can still search for what they need.
I’m truly shocked that this isn’t possible yet! Please for the love of all things holy, please dear Google…put a delete option in for admins! My gemini app has become almost unusable as I can’t organize or delete anything…therefore, I can’t find things I have created easily. I want to get rid of unusable chats. Would be great to also have folders as well.

This is a must-have feature; please add a ‘delete’ option so individual users can delete their chats, as in regular Gmail. We are from education, and we also need this feature.
Please add this.
At our company, we also find it ridiculous that the Google Workspace user cannot delete their chat / chat history with Gemini. This violates basic data privacy norms and should be implemented immediately, as it is a huge negligence on Google’s side not to include such an essential feature. Please implement this feature as soon as possible, otherwise, we might be forced to look for an alternative service.
Dear Google, this is extremely frustrating. Everyone is here for the same reason, admins should have the right to delete their own data, PERIOD!! It’s simply not your decision to determine how long i keep my data. My entire chat history was a complete mess, and i also believe the history itself can affect how future responses are generated, like many here, i like to wipe the data completely to see if the quality of the responses changes, furthermore, sometimes i ask personal questions that i may not want stored in my business history. Now i have no choice to but to delete the user from my workspace, transfer all my google drive data to another user, all because i refuse to accept that YOU get to decide how long i keep my data saved. Truly a disaster.
Totally agree. Hopefully, the per-user chat deletion feature will be available soon. Because of the recent Gemini privacy concerns, my boss is thinking about moving away from Google Workspace, and I might need to migrate more than 100K users to another platform.![]()
Please make possible to delete the chat history. It’s really preventing people to use Gemini App.
I am wondering if any google devs see this at all? This feature is a must-have
I’m also joining the conversation for visibility. It has been six months since this issue was first raised. The current limitations in Google Workspace (Pro) are unacceptable from a privacy and data governance standpoint.
Users cannot delete individual conversations, nor can they edit anything other than their most recent prompt. That means mistakes, sensitive disclosures, or confidential business information remain permanently retained in a way the user cannot meaningfully control.
For any privacy-minded individual or organization, this is a non-starter. Paid enterprise software must provide granular control over user-generated content. The absence of basic conversation management tools undermines user trust and conflicts with the reasonable expectations of paying customers.
If Google Workspace (Pro) is positioned as a professional product, it must meet professional standards for data control, auditability, and content management. At minimum, users should be able to:
-
Delete individual conversations
-
Edit prior prompts
-
Manage retention settings at a granular level
Without these capabilities, the platform fails to meet the baseline requirements of organizations that handle confidential or regulated information.
I too wonder if this is seen by developers.
I simply want to be able to clear out old threads and ideas, not unlike the Google Grtaveyard (https://killedbygoogle.com/)
please implement. chat retention should be an optional feature, not imposed on everyone. I use Claude not Gemini purely because of this.
It is optional; as an administrator, you can turn it off or on for your organization, a user, or a group of users. The problem is that users can’t handle it at a granular level.
Yes + 1 for me.
Great to have the option to retain information en masse and for everyone if I choose to - but that should be an option, not a dictate, and a blanket-off is significantly reducing use value. My company, my rules… and yes, I am a grownup in full possession of my mental capacity, and I tend to employ grownups whom I trust with a certain degree of autonomy in using their tools.
This is a major issue for me and my business. I can’t understand why Google hasn’t taken action on this. I guess they know that a lot of users put up with it knowing that we already pay for Gemini through our workspace accounts so it makes no sense for most people to pay extra for ChatGPT where you have the ability to delete old chats and keep things in order.
This is terrible. How can I use a tool I cant ever delete a chat from. Work is about good housekeeping and this is the polar opposite.
As an admin of a solo workspace standard package I should have full control. This is unacceptable. I’m still in trial period so may just cancel and move to office 365,
Give me option to delete.
