Chart alerts no longer working?

Hello,

a few months ago I upgraded to Looker Studio Pro for the chart alerting feature. Initially everything worked fine but since a few weeks they are no longer working.

Here’s the timeline:

  • 14.11: Last received alert email
  • 19.11: Alert condition met - no alert received
  • 11.12: I noticed the missing alerts and all my chart alerts have been set to inactive (“This alert has been deactivated, since the query could not be executed”). Re-enabling them didn’t work, so I had to delete and re-create all of them. They are marked as “active” but I’m not getting any emails if the condition is met.

What really worries me is that there was no notification about the disabled alerts. Not being able to rely on them kind of defeats the purpose of the feature for me.

Additional infos:

  • The data comes straight from BigQuery. No fancy queries and no external data sources.
  • I checked my spam folder and the google workspace email account is working.
  • The pro license is still active and I have access to all pro features.

Is this a known problem or is there way to check what exactly went / is still wrong. I have yet to try creating a new document or chart.

Thanks for the help!

My alerts are also shown as active and have stopped working entirely, even though I can confirm that the BQ jobs are executing for the old and new alerts.

The report scheduling emails work as well, so I believe there is a greater bug impacting the delivery of these emails.

I’ve spent well over four hours on new data sources, reports, etc. I hope Google can begin addressing these issues. No alert related emails appear to be sent, while the standard report delivery emails work just fine.

Hi,

it’s still broken for me. I even tried creating a new report with no success. Report scheduling also works just fine.

Hopefully someone from Google sees this issue or another customer with a active service plan can create a ticket to have them investigate the problem.

I just can’t get over paying for a support plan with a complicated price structure just to report a broken feature.
