Allow in NotebookLM Studio the opportunity to share Studio item and hide in the same time Source panel

Notebook LM permits just two sharing levels for viewers: ‘full,’ which includes visible and selectable source data, or ‘chat’ when Studio is missing.

Studio is a useful tool for creating helpful materials for viewers, but full viewer access includes the Source panel, which can be deselected by mistake.

It would be beneficial to have an intermediate value where ‘chat’ and ‘Studio’ are available, but the Source panel is hidden or excluded.

Feature Request: Intermediate Sharing Level in NotebookLM Studio

Current Situation:
NotebookLM Studio currently provides only two sharing levels for viewers:

  1. Full – viewers can access both Studio content and the Source panel.

  2. Chat – viewers can interact via chat, but Studio is unavailable.

Problem:
Full access includes the Source panel, which sometimes users want to hide. There is no option to allow Studio access while keeping the Source panel hidden.

Proposed Solution:
Introduce an intermediate sharing level where:

  • Viewers can use Studio features.

  • The Source panel is hidden or excluded.

Benefit:
This allows content creators to share interactive Studio items safely without exposing source data by mistake.

Hey,

Hope you’re keeping well.

NotebookLM Studio’s current sharing model doesn’t provide a configuration to show Studio content while hiding the Source panel, so the only options are the existing “full” or “chat” modes. The best path is to submit this as a feature request through the NotebookLM feedback option in the product menu, as that’s the channel the team uses to track enhancements. In the meantime, if you need to share Studio outputs without exposing sources, you can export or copy the generated material into a separate Google Doc or Workspace file and share that instead, keeping your source data private.

Thanks and regards,
Taz
