Hi all,
I am testing the Limited Preview of Workspace Studio Add-ons. I followed the Calculator Quickstart guide exactly, but I’m unable to proceed with the installation.
The add-on doesn’t show up when adding a step to a Flow. Is there an extra configuration step not mentioned in the docs, or is the Preview still rolling out functionality to certain regions/accounts?
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Raul_Ramos Workspace Studio Add-ons are still in Limited Preview, so availability is restricted. If the add-on does not appear when adding a step to a Flow, the most common reasons are access and deployment configuration.
First, confirm that your Google account is enrolled in the Limited Preview and that the feature is enabled in your Workspace domain. In many cases, only specific test domains or allowlisted accounts can see and use Workspace Studio in Flows.
Second, make sure the add-on is properly deployed, not just created. It must have a valid deployment version and be installed in your account or domain. Also verify that the correct Cloud project is linked and that the Workspace Marketplace SDK and required APIs are enabled.
If everything is configured correctly and it still does not appear, it is likely due to preview rollout limitations by region or account type. In that case, you will need confirmation from the preview program contact or wait for broader availability.
This still doesn’t work, even with access in the correct accounts.
I got the same issue, the add-on simply does NOT show up when adding a step to a flow in workspace studio.
The answer from google workspace support:
Our team has completed their review of your screen recordings and the script configuration. They confirmed that the logic behind your Apps Script code is entirely correct and the “Make a copy” functionality is working as expected.
However, they identified that the reason the add-on is not appearing in the Workspace Studio Flows interface is that the “Custom Steps” feature is currently part of a limited preview. Because it is not yet generally available, the custom steps will not be visible or accessible within the Flows interface at this time, even if the deployment is configured correctly.
We apologize for any confusion the official documentation may have caused regarding its availability.
