Vertex AI is unusable for new users

Google has been heavily advertising its Vertex AI services to me along with its free trial. I registered a few days ago and tried Vertex AI Model Garden to quickly discover I cannot deploy any models. I then tried to get a Vertex AI Gemini API key, but I need a permission that requires me to possess an organization, which again requires me to possess a Google Workspace account, which again requires me to possess a domain name.

Is there anything Vertex AI-related that I can do straight out of the box? Are the $1300 in credits Google gave me totally unusable?

@Confused_user : would you please see if this page helps: https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/generative-ai/docs/start/api-keys?usertype=newuser?

Look forward to your feedback. Thanks!

Hello. Thank you for responding.
The page you linked is what I referred to earlier.
The first step directs me to enable “Service API Key creation” but I follow the steps to discover I can only view the policy, I cannot edit it. To do so I need organization-level permissions (I don’t know the proper term). Then I see I neither have nor can create an organization to gain the necessary permissions because I have no Cloud Identity account. Cloud Identity requires me to sign up with Google Workspace which again requires a domain name I own.

I use the ADC now as a workaround since it is what I have permissions to create.

@Confused_user : thanks for the feedback! I will forward your feedback to the teams involved.
