URGENT Appsheet Account Disabled

Hi,

My client created a google gmail account exclusively to be able to purchase Appsheet Core Licenses for an app i am helping him build. It was a brand new gmail account, and we created the app and purchased 10 Appsheet core licenses. The account was created less than a month ago, and today Google shut down the gmail account and said it was suspended because it was suspicious. I need someone on the appsheet support team to help me with this issue. I filed an appeal to reinstate the account, but in the meantime the app is lost, and even the google takeout file does not include any of the google sheets or docs that make up the app. I can’t even file an appsheet support ticket from that account since i’m shut out of it. I can’t believe this, that google would shut down the account of a paying customer. @devingu @Jose_Arteaga @Adam-google

Hello @EliK,

Welcome back!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will send you a DM so that I can do some research.

Sharing good news!

@EliK was able to contact support and the account has been reinstated. I’m only awaiting for confirmation that the app is fully functional again to make this post as a solution.

Hi @WillowMobileSys It’s been a while since I posted on the forum!

My client didn’t have any google account, since they use a different email provider. For the purpose of creating the app and buying licenses, they made a brand new gmail account. We built the app in that new account, and they purchased 10 Core licenses back on Jan 14th. Then on Feb 3, Google locked the brand new gmail account for “suspicious activity” likely because it looked like a bot account. It didn’t have any real human activity besides for being used to purchase the Appsheet subscriptions, and was logged into from different locations. We filed an appeal to the Google account team to prove I was a human, and they reinstated the account within a day.

While the account was disabled, the app was inaccessible because the underlying Google Sheet was owned by the locked account. They gave me the option to do a Takeout of the account’s data, but for some reason the takeout did not include any Drive files. Once the account was reinstated I made a copy of the google sheet into my personal account and am now running the app off of that new google sheet which I own in my personal account. That way if it gets locked again at least I have the data and can use a clone of the app that I made into my personal account as a backup.

The whole experience made me realize how dependent everything is on Google’s whims of their terms of service. I’m not sure what else can be done so others can avoid this situation, but I assume (hope) that it wouldn’t happen if the app was created in an authenticated workspace account. I’ve seen on other forums that Google is really cracking down on bot accounts and is disabling any account that it detects for suspicious activity.

Thank you so much @Jose_Arteaga for your help and your quick response. As I told you in a PM, sometimes when dealing with google you can feel like you are talking to a brick wall. Having a person respond was very helpful.
