Hello Community Developers,
We need urgent support/guidance/reflections on recovering historical Google Analytics 4 (GA4) data that was automatically deleted from our BigQuery dataset.
Project details:
- Previous table expiration: 60 days
- Current default table expiration: Never
- Time Travel retention: 7 days
Issue:
Our BigQuery dataset previously had a 60-day default table expiration, resulting in the automatic deletion of historical GA4 event tables. We changed the default table expiration to Never in October 2026. We have also removed the expiration settings from existing tables. On November 3, 2026, we attempted to recover the deleted GA4 event tables using BigQuery’s Time Travel feature with the bq cp command and @0 time decorator.
Our query:
We would like to know whether there is any possible way to recover our ALL lost historical GA4 data, including data that may no longer be available through the standard BigQuery Time Travel feature. We are willing to pay any applicable charges for data recovery if a recovery option is available.
This historical data is important for our analytics and reporting, and we would greatly appreciate your advice in recovering as much of it as possible.
Thank you.
