Shared agent not visible in Data Studio's aggregated catalog, but accessible via direct link

Hi everyone,

I’m running into a visibility issue with agents (Conversational Analytics / Gemini Data Analytics) on the Data Studio aggregator page ( Data Studio Overview ).

Context:

  • The agent was created and published by the project’s admin account.
  • Agent resource is shared to the target user ( it has documentation explicited permissions )
  • If a target user opens the agent’s direct link, they can open and use it ( but it cannot open new chats, if not the one from the link).
  • However, if that same user opens the Data Studio Agent aggregator page, the agent does not show up in the list. Actually, the user can’t even see the project selected in the picker — forcing the project via URL doesn’t make the agent appear either.

Roles already verified on the specific agent (agent’s Share permissions):

  • The user already has Gemini Data Analytics Data Agent User and Gemini Data Analytics Data Agent Viewer granted directly on the agent resource. (I also tried granting Gemini Data Analytics Data Agent Owner, with no change.)

Project-level IAM roles assigned to the user:

  • BigQuery Data Viewer
  • BigQuery Job User
  • Data Catalog Viewer
  • Gemini Data Analytics Data Agent Viewer
  • Gemini Data Analytics Stateless Chat User
  • Gemini for Google Cloud User
  • MCP Tool User
  • Service Usage Viewer
  • Viewer

In Big Query data agents section, the agent is visible and usable as intended.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone else run into this exact behavior (agent visible only for the admin in the catalog, but only reachable by other users via direct link)?
  2. The user also can’t seem to see/select the project itself in the picker, even by forcing it via URL, despite having the basic Viewer role on the project — could this be a propagation delay, a Domain Restricted Sharing policy, or something else on the org/resource manager side?
  3. Are there any other project-level IAM roles required to correctly populate the “agents” section in the Data Studio catalog?

Thanks in advance for any pointers or similar experiences!
