Seeking Help: Owner Permission Transfer in Looker Studio

Hello everyone,

I’m Shunsuke Tsuchiya (also known as shunsock).

I am looking for a way to transfer my owner permissions of a Looker Studio Report to another person in my company because I am going to leave the company soon. Below is a screenshot showing the sharing feature in Looker Studio.

I was able to set my company member as an editor, but I couldn’t assign them as the owner.

I have two questions:

  1. Is there a way to transfer my owner permissions?
  2. Can this be done if we upgrade to Looker Studio Pro?

I think you’re close! According to the Transfer Ownership article, you need to share with that person first, and then afterwards you can promote them to Owner.

Looker Studio Pro is not required for this functionality.

What if the owner is no longer with our organization? How does one transfer ownership to one of our editors?

To the best of my knowledge, this depends on whether you have Pro.

If the owner is on Looker Studio Pro, then it remains in the Pro project (or the team workspaces), where the admin can reassign to a new owner.

If the owner isn’t on Looker Studio Pro, there’s nothing that can be done. It’s very important to transfer ownership before leaving the organization.
