I’ve encountered an issue recently where PDF generation appears to be happening before all images have had a chance to upload. The PDF is generated, but only some of the images make it in.
If I re-generate it at a later time, it has all of the images.
It’s a standard parent-child form-within-a-form setup, where the child records contain the images, and the bot is triggered via a subsequent form-save action after the parent record is saved with all children. All of the child records show up in the PDF just fine, but just not all of the images.
I believe I’ve had success solving the issue in one case by adding a 5 minute wait step to the bot, but I’m not a huge fan of this solution.
I don’t believe I’ve ever encountered this issue before, so I’m curious if maybe something has changed about how the Appsheet server processes these things? Or has anyone else experienced this sort of issue? Perhaps it has something to do with the user’s internet connection being a bit too slow? (the users of the app in question are typically out in the field)

We have had this start earlier today. All child entries within the generated PDF are missing. Is this an Appsheet backend issue?
Need a fix urgently.

No, it’s not a today thing, I’ve been experiencing it for the past several months. It’s also not the child records that are missing, as I mentioned those are fine, it’s the images themselves that are missing. Your issue must be something different.

Hi, Yes I have experienced this before. I can confirm that being here in South Africa on low end internet connections I saw the same happening, If I ran reports on a better connection then I had a higher chance of getting all images loaded, I must add that I process alot of image in the report, but it was working well and started dropping images at times.

It seems I posted this right in the middle of a similar Appsheet-wide issue. That was unfortunate timing for me. Just want to make it clear that I’m posting about a different issue.

Did you make any particular changes to how the app works to try and solve it?

Hi,
Nothing I could do to solve on app side, I also saw that if I generated it at different times it finished faster and never dropped images, this made me also feel it is server load related…
I tried to set all images to small using formatting, but this sped up report generating however never fixed the missing images that popped up here and there.

There was an outage yesterday related to Template Expressions in which Start and If expressions did not evaluate. This was released for ~2 hours and rolled back.
That may explain your issue @James_Fussell1 , but does not likely explain all the behavior being experience by others. Looking into it

I am facing the exact same issues.
We have several critical reports which are 20-30 pages and contains more than 100 images. Everything has been working fine until Feb 28.
From 1st march onwards, all the reports are missing almost half the images and replaced with a link.
Is there any fix yet?
Also, I have an automation that sends email to about 150 people, with the generated pdf report (20-25 pages). Since last couple of months, the automation keeps getting timed out after sending around emails to 10 users.
Is there any way to fix this? Or a better way to do this?
