All my apps are slow to sync these past few days
other developers are having the same problem
i tried using VPN to access it and it improved
is the system being upgraded? I don’t see any notification
Are you only experiencing slow sync issues? In my case, I have a problem with overlapping records when syncing, and that’s causing me to lose records.
You’re not alone—several AppSheet developers have recently reported slower sync times and performance lags, especially during peak hours. Based on your observation that using a VPN improves speed, this could indicate regional network throttling or routing issues affecting your connection to AppSheet’s servers (which are hosted on Google Cloud).
Here’s what’s likely happening:
-
No public upgrade notice: As of now, there’s no official notice from AppSheet or Google Cloud about a major upgrade or downtime. However, internal maintenance or infrastructure changes may be happening silently in the background.
-
Regional server latency: Google Cloud services sometimes route traffic differently based on your location. If your VPN is set to another region (e.g., U.S. or Europe), and that improves performance, it may suggest that the data center near your region is temporarily underperforming or overloaded.
-
Shared infrastructure impact: If many apps are slower and developers globally are affected, it could point to an issue with shared backend services (e.g., AppSheet’s sync, compute, or caching layers).
What You Can Do:
Temporary Fixes
Use a VPN to route through a stable region (like U.S. West or East).
Test with Google Sheets data vs. internal tables to see which source is slowing syncs the most.
Report to AppSheet Support
Submit a report via AppSheet support or from within the editor (Help > Contact Support).
Mention that VPN routing helps and ask if there are ongoing performance incidents.
Monitor Status
AppSheet doesn’t have a public status page, but you can check:
Google Cloud Status Dashboard
AppSheet community forum for similar reports: https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/AppSheet/bd-p/appsheet
Yes, I’m also experiencing slow sync for simple data changes or lightweight bots. ASIA- Thailand region.
Still very slow in Asia, Thailand.
Just a single column change of a single row requires more than 5 secs to sync? ![]()
Can anyone confirm?
I believe there is something is definitely going wrong. Just edit the value of the column, it takes quite long time to complete sync. This does not happen to the apps which use MySQL as data source, but it does happen for apps, google sheet as data source.
It is possible there is server issues behind the scene to connect from AppSheet to Google Sheet. API errors or something?
Performance profile like this is indicating some issue on the server side.
Similar to the updates in May, it’s been 3 days, but there hasn’t been any announcement from Google. ![]()
Yes. This situation has been happening for about a week now. Hope to get support soon.
As far as I checked various other apps, it appears to me that the app with BigQuery as data source is also affecting the issue of slowness. All in all, some issues are going on globally. Hope someone in Google would react to the posts.
Japan.
Synchronization time required is much longer than usual.
Data source is a spreadsheet.
We are experiencing slow sync in all our apps. I have consulted with Google but they are insisting that there is no problem with their side. It started last Friday and keeps on going especially at peak hours. We are having issues with the performance. JAPAN region.
Today our morning ( sometime around 3 AM to 6 AM in UTC time) I also observed substantial slowness in apps with spreadsheet ( G sheet) as backend. It seems to be better now though.
Sometimes when one is configuring a large app, it is difficult immediately to know the cause. Initially I thought, it could be something to with the changes I made in the app.
However now with other community colleagues reporting, just thought of sharing my experience also today with slowness.
Now for the same operation it seems to be better.
Earlier in the day for same operation was taking a longer time.
seems the problem is fixed, this morning I no longer have slow sync
I also face same issue, hope that dev team will fix this one soon
we still have slow sync issues here, but today is faster compared to previous days.
Notification of the errors, failing to connect with data sources (MySQL) is endlessly continuing … Annoying because we could not get any response nor the reasonable response back from Google while we experiencing issue which is almost “outage”…
See my Email inbox, where the tongs of failure notifications are arriving. Non stopping!
Untill now, still no announcement from google, what is going on?
Hi folks! We are aware that a number of users in APAC regions are experiencing increased latency issues. While we’re investigating, we’ve taken some steps to mitigate the problem. Our metrics indicate that June 12 was an improvement over the previous couple days, and we’ll keep working to fully resolve the situation. Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the problems.
The frequency of problems is increasing, related to connection, is there an update from google?
We’re in Florida. All apps use G Sheets for data. All apps were fine until today. Most apps are either extremely slow to sync or timeout without completing synchronization.
