Map pin clustering engine

Still ‘broken’?

  1. I switched to LAT LONG a year back because geocoded locations started lagging, map pin rendering solved.
  2. About a month ago map pin clusters stopped ‘disposing’ after zooming in. Eg. 10 location cluster graphic still rendered after max zoom in
  3. There was a topic on this several weeks ago, cant find it with keywords map or clustering

I’m not aware of the prior issues but just one small possibility to look at first.

Are you sure all those pins SHOULD be dispersed about the view and are not collated into nearly the same spot?

What happens if you turn OFF the pin grouping and then zoom into the same area? OR, if possible, zoom in further on that same area?

Yes they should be dispersed. This app has been running for almost 4 years, map clustering changed. Is it phone / device problem? Probably not, same behavior in editor / desktop. Is it a chrome problem? Maybe, but all our apps are chrome pwa apps

And if you do turn off the grouping. You may as well not have that option in the first place

I was just simply suggesting to analyze the issue by TEMPORARILY turning off grouping. If all of the pins are close together, they would still be grouped in the image you are showing.

But you sound confident, that they should be showing ungrouped. I can only suggest then that you forward the issue to AppSheet Support. However, it would be helpful to them if you showed the Grouped result AND the un-grouped result so they can clearly see the issue.

If i get a moment, I’ll try to reproduce the issue with one of my test apps.

Definitely needs a ticket to Support. I tested this and seeing 2 problems:

  1. The group updates are slow and sometimes leaves a group pins on the screen that shouldn’t be there. This is inconsistent where I can get group pins to show twice even.
  2. When zooming all the way in to see all individual pins, the last group pin is left on the screen. This makes it seem there are more addresses than there really are.

As an example…on ALL the views below there are only 5 addresses. Zooming in and out can leave the pin and group states in such a way there seems to be more than 5 addresses.
