Looker Studio Report Blank When Downloading PDF

Nope, issue persists for me as well.

The issue still persists, and it has now been three months without the ability to download the reports. Is there an expected date for resolution?

Found a solution to this, been dealing with this problem on one report for 2 months (just a duplicate of another report thats been working for years and still does)

Solution: I removed all data sources from the report and re-added them, reselecting them to all data charts.

@Rick_E - Looker Studio has been having an export issue for 3 months, is there any update in sight that will fix this issue, outside of workarounds that people are having to do? Any update is appreciated. Thank you

a few weeks? We’ve been waiting for a fix - to the DEFAULT Google Ads data connector - for FOUR months. Sigh.

This issue still persists as of mid-September, BTW. Have had to manually screenshot and format reports for almost 6 months.

@Rick_E or any other Google staff, please help. There are folks who spend tens of thousands on Google Ads just trying to use your native reporting app and it has been broken for almost half of 2025. Please please please, fix Looker Studio!!

This appears to not only still be occurring, but appears to have gotten worse. We use the PDF reports heavily to produce usage reports for over 30 domains and are completely stuck. We have tried what is suggested to no avail and this has not been working for nearly a month.

We use a standard Data Control and have even forced text into the top corner as noted here. We have followed all other troubleshooting steps. Here we have a looker studio showing data from one of our domains (note the testing text at the top to try to force this):

All of our PDFs look like this and we have tried all steps here and/or:

  1. Trying to get automated reports

  2. Trying to use different browsers (at this point we have tried 3-4 different versions of 6 different major browsers)

  3. All additional troubleshooting steps

Hi everyone,

since switching to Data Studio, I’ve been encountering the following message in many visualizations when sending automated PDF reports:

“System Error: Data Studio has encountered a system error.”

Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this issue and how it can be resolved?
These are very important KPIs that are being sent to senior management.

Since the branding updated to Data Studio in the last few days, we’ve been encountering the same message/errors in PDF charts (tables unaffected) when downloading PDFs or sending scheduled PDFs:

In the PDF we see either “System Error: Data Studio has encountered a system error.” or the chart simply does not render in the PDF (blank space).

We are aware of this issue and we are working on a fix. Thank you for your patience!
