The new topic count seems inconsistent:
Thanks - I flagged this one for the team to review.
If you hit refresh on this page, does the count then get updated correctly?
The character minimum was originally implemented to deter bad actors who would post minimal content, like single-word responses or images without text, to quickly gain trust.
However, we’ve found Gemini to be surprisingly effective at moderating spam, so this default Discourse setting seems less necessary and perhaps a bit outdated. We’ve just disabled it (well, down to two characters!
).
Oooh, I do like that error message.
@Steve - Are you still seeing this inconsistency?
Hmm. I’d say I don’t notice it as much. But I acclimated to it, so it may just not be registering with me anymore. If you’ve tried to address my earlier complaint, thank you!!!
I’ll try to pay attention to this and circle back soon to solve this topic.
Unfortunately, I just experienced it.
@Steve - We have been looking into and we haven’t been able to reproduce it. If you do have multiple tabs of the community open that can play a factor for the inconsistency, is what we have found.
@Steve - please provide a screenshot. Thank you
That’s it, then. I open each post in a new tab to avoid the back and forth with the category index, and to avoid the loading transition.
Will do, but it’ll look a lot like the one I posted starting this topic.
@Steve - if having the multiple tabs of the community open is the cause, no need for the screenshot. Please let us know if you see the inconsistency without having multiple tabs open.
@Steve - thank you, we will take another look into it.
@Steve - when you refresh the browser tab, do the new posts appear?
