Three things:
- Apparently, some users do have direct messaging.
- Apparently, not all that have it realize some (most?) of us do not.
- The dark theme seems to have some deficiencies. Light gray on super-pale blue?

DMs work only from Google Staff to users (and then you can reply back to the message). Limiting DMs was done urging of the legal/privacy teams to limit the potential for spam/abuse in user to user DMs.
