Deleting a filter causes it to re-appear

Every time I delete a filter from my filter list, it suddenly reappears at the bottom of my list. It’s not being used in any charts.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Thanks for reporting that! I’ll pass it on to the developers!

I had an issue yesterday where I updated one of my filters, and saved it, but when I went back in the change was not there. I made the update again, but it still didn’t take…but eventually it did. Filter Gremlins?

Hmm I can’t reproduce that but the original issue appears to be a caching gremlin, perhaps your issue is a related case.

To resolve the original issue, I found that if I reloaded the page, the removed filter appears to be present, but clicking Delete again does finally remove the filter.

Thanks! For context, the filters were inherited from another dashboard which I copied. Regardless, they’re not connected to any charts.

Also having this issue. I delete the filter, and then about 5 seconds later it just reappears at the bottom of the filters list. Not a huge issue, but annoying when you like to keep everything nice and tidy

I am facing the same issue. Any solution?

I’ve managed to replicate the issue and I think I’ve also found a temporary solution.

Steps to replicate current issue:

  1. Delete filter #1

  2. Filter #1 is deleted

  3. Delete filter #2

  4. Filter #2 appears at the bottom of the list

  5. Attempt to delete filter #2

  6. Steps 4-5 repeat in a cycle.

What I found that worked is the following:

  1. Delete #1

  2. Refresh the page

  3. Delete filter #2

  4. Refresh the page

  5. Filter #2 stays deleted

So far, this has worked for me.

My problem is similar only that the filters exist at the data level, not the report level.

The filters have been removed yet appear to still be applied and show at the data level, yet there is no apparent means of removing. See screenshot

Hi folks. Apologies for the continuing inconvenience. We’re looking into the issue. In the meantime, you can follow @nickborg94’s steps to finally delete the filter (e.g. remove, refresh, remove, refresh).

@normdouglas It appears from your screenshot that your data source has Looker filters applied. It’s not possible to delete those from the data source. You’d have to update the underlying LookML model.

Hi folks,

We’ve rolled out a fix for this issue. Please let us know if your deleted filters don’t stay deleted! And again, very sorry for any inconvenience.
