Hi, I’m facing an issue with my Looker Studio report and need help.
I’ve been using an Excel file as a data source for my Looker Studio dashboard for the past 5–6 months without any problems. But starting last week, the report keeps failing to load and shows this error:
“Data set configuration error – Looker Studio cannot connect to your dataset.”
Has anyone else faced this issue recently? What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?
If your Excel file is stored in Google Drive, this error often happens when the file’s sharing permissions or location change, or when the connected account loses access. First, open Resource > Manage added data sources in Looker Studio and check if the connector shows an authorization error. Make sure the Google Drive file is still accessible to the account used in Looker Studio and that it hasn’t been moved or renamed. If needed, reauthorize the connector or reconnect the file from Drive to refresh the link. Also note that large Excel files or frequent edits can cause intermittent load issues, so consider converting to Google Sheets for more stable integration.
