Cannot delete auto-generated project from Gemini Code Assist subscription (Permission denied)

Hello Community,

I’m facing an issue with a project that was automatically created when I subscribed to Gemini Code Assist, and I cannot delete it due to permission errors.

Problem Description:

  1. When I subscribed to Gemini Code Assist, Google automatically created a project
  2. Project ID: strong-bus-krb5j
  3. I’ve already deleted the billing profile associated with project

Error Details - When trying to delete the project, I get:

  1. Additional access permissions required
  2. Missing permission: resourcemanager.projects.delete
  3. The project appears to be managed by Gemini Code Assist Global 2

What I’ve tried:

  1. Accessing project settings to delete - Permission denied
  2. Using Cloud Resource Manager - Same permission error
  3. Checking IAM permissions - I don’t appear to have owner role

Questions:

  1. How can I delete this auto-generated project from Gemini Code Assist?
  2. Is this a known issue with Gemini Code Assist subscriptions?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Environment:

  1. Account type: Personal Google account
  2. Region: South Korea
  3. Subscription: Gemini Code Assist (currently showing as Active)

Thank you!

I have the exact same problem. I’ve spent 3 hours this morning going in circle in the cloud console. I don’t have and can’t seem to add permissions/roles for the Gemini Code Assist project so I can’t cancel it or edit it in any way. I also can’t contact tech support for the same reason.

I tried contacting billing support, but they said it’s outside their scope even though I am trying to cancel the subscription.

Same here, I am also facing the same issue. Anyone have any solution for this?

Same here.

Hello @arer90 ,

AFAIK it works as designed. Such project have been created specifically for Gemini-around stuff. You don’t have owner for this project, because it’s Google owned.

If you turned off Gemini Code Assists, according to this URL[1], you don’t have to do anything else.

[1]. Turn off Gemini Code Assist  |  Google for Developers
