Welcome to the June edition of Apigee Bytes. Before many of you head off for a well-deserved summer holiday, we wanted to share our latest updates. June has been an incredibly busy and exciting month for the Apigee team, packed with events that have left us feeling energized and inspired. We hope to pass some of that positive energy along to you in this newsletter!

:robot: Agent Gateway GA

We are excited to announce the General Availability launch of Agent Gateway, the air-traffic control for agent governance in the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform! Agent Gateway is an Agent Platform component that can act as an enforcement point for IAM and LLM-as-a-judge policies.

Agent Gateway can be combined with Apigee as an AI Gateway for MCP transcoding and for advanced features. While Agent Gateway supports only agents on the Agent Platform, Apigee as an AI Gateway can support agents running anywhere. :backhand_index_pointing_right: Learn more :up_right_arrow:︎

:gear: Apigee Updates

  • EventFlow Server-Sent Events: Apigee EventFlow for server-sent events now supports the DataCapture policy. Learn how to use the DataCapture policy to capture token counts. :bar_chart:

  • ParsePayload Policy Rollout: The rollout of the ParsePayload policy to all Apigee X and Hybrid orgs should be 100% complete by now. Say hello to the ParsePayload policy, enabling you to work more efficiently with JSON-RPC as you build out your agentic workloads. :hammer_and_wrench:

  • AI Gateway Capabilities Hub: Apigee has summarized an updated listing of all our AI Gateway capabilities on our public documentation page: AI Gateway Capabilities Overview. :globe_with_meridians:

  • AI Portals Solution: With the rapid expansion of AI usage into workers’ and organizations’ daily operations, it is paramount to have an overview of all AI usage across models, tools, and agents. This can best be achieved with an AI Portal, similar to a traditional API or developer portal, but focused on AI usage, cost, and subscription management.

:globe_with_meridians: Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)

Learn how to build a secure, governed “Chat-to-Checkout” experience using Apigee X and Gemini.
