What is the "Group" shared folder?

Hi all. We embed Looker into our production application. Recently, I’ve noticed that when users interact with the secondary menu within the embed, there is now a “Group” folder. This folder was not visible in the past, and I’m not sure when it was made visible (presumably due to a recent update to the Looker platform). When I click on “Group”, as a user of our production application, I’m able to view more of the content in Looker than I want the user to be able to view. I’ve provided a screenshot of our Looker embed that shows the secondary menu expanded and the “Group” folder circled in red.

Is there a way to hide this folder? I do not want users of our embed to be able to access it.

Hi @keith_dowd

Great question, this is the Group folder associated with the user’s external group ID, should one have been assigned. It means users within that group can collaborate more easily should you give them permission to do so.

See docs here:

Regards,
Rob

Is it possible to rename this folder to something other than Group?

Hi @mary_advocado - you can’t, but you can create folders for each group and call them a different name if you prefer.
