Can I make multiple apps under ONE subscription plan? (I mean that whatever feature I intended to afford by subscribing, will that apply to whatever app I will add in the future?)
(I’m very confused about this. I’ve seen the articles but can someone please elaborate this in simple words? I saw that button at the top that shares the apps to “users”). Is there a limit to how many users I invite to use my app? (Because I’m confused about the CORE subscription part when it comes to “users”. It says that appsheet will charge $10 per ‘active’ user every month. To elaborate on my end, I’ve defined USERS as the Departments (identified by their respective emails) who will use the app. So does it mean that if we have 7 ‘active’ Departments in the userlist (who makes regular requests thru the app), that would be $70 per month? And per “user”, it’s limited to 5 devices only ?(e.g. different employees of that Dept signed in to that email) I’m sorry I couldn’t explain this any way clearer but I’m hoping someone would understand. Thank you!
How about the licenses? Do I come across that during the subscription process? I thought I’ll get charged every month per user so what’s with buying licenses corresponding to my number of users? Please help me understand. Thanks!
Under your account, there is no limit on the number of apps you can have. Licensing is straight forward. You are required to have a single license per user per month regardless of how many apps that user accesses.
AppSheet does not charge for license AFTER they are used. You are expected to have the correct number of licenses pre-purchased BEFORE users begin using your apps. To start, you should buy the number of licenses for the number of expected “active” users.
Let’s say you have a total of 50 users but realistically you only expect 35 of those users to access any of your apps within the month then you want to buy 35 licenses. AppSheet will inform you when the number of active users has exceeded your purchased number of licenses at which point you simply need to go into your account and bump up the number.
On the other hand, it is your responsibility to adjust the number of licenses DOWN if your number of active users drops. So, let’s say you initially buy 35 licenses but only 30 users access any of your apps. AppSheet does NOT adjust the license charges. You will still be charged for the initial 35 licenses you setup. And you will continue to be charged for the 35 licenses until YOU adjust the number you need.
Note: AppSheet only tracks a count of ACTIVE users each month. So it could be a different 35 users each month. You still are only required to have 35 active licenses.
When is comes to sharing a login among several users, this is actually not an accepted practice and I personally would strongly discourage against it.
When you share a login account, there is no way to know who the physical user is. This places the security of the app/system more at risk from hackers (more avenues to discover login credentials) or a disgruntled employee who wishes to inflict harm on the organization in anonymity. While we all would like to think that users of our apps would never purposely do anything bad, it only takes once for it to cause a whole lot of pain.
Thank you for elaborating that. I understand, but one more thing please. I thought I am suppose to be paying fixed cost of $10 per active user, so is that referring to the “licenses” that I’m actually paying for? Or am I paying a different charge for active users AND buying licenses for them while they’re active? Thank you for your time!
I’m sorry but why is that so? Cos I’ve tried making an app and sharing it and there’s an option where that user can only “use app” and I don’t see any problem. Can u please explain briefly if that’ll really cause serious problem in the future? Thank you!
I’m guessing these questions are around the sharing of a single login account?
Let’s assume you have an email address of “login@mycompany.com” and give it out to 20 users. Three of those users are logged in at the same time and using the app. The app has no idea which of the 20 users these 3 people are. So any functionality that relies on specific user info cannot be built.
From a Security perspective, users have some level of anonymity and can basically do anything in the app they wish without anyone knowing who did what.
Whether this lack of user identity causes a “serious problem” will be based on the needs of your app.
If you don’t need a secured app and don’t need to track user access for any reason, then maybe a Public app will suit your needs better. These apps are $50/month per app for unlimited users and provide the majority of the functionality provided under the Core Account. Check out Publisher Pro apps if this sounds more what you need.
Thank you for this explanation. I would like to know more on this context. If I have a workspace that have 20 emails associated with it, does it mean that I can share the app to 19 more users, no matter they are using organization email or not?
