Hi all,
I hope this is okay to post here. I have been unable to find any other avenues for customer support. I recently received an email from Google Workspace to my personal email that I had created a Google Workspace account and that my free trial was about to end. The username and domain name included my first name.
I never created such an account or domain. I would like this account to be taken down, but I am unable to contact Google Workspace customer support without an admin account. I’ve been directed to a login screen when I click on the button to contact customer support, but it does not allow me to progress without an admin account.
Additional context: I believe I am being targeted by some hacker since I recently had multiple credit cards stolen, and a similar domain created using the same email and my name but on Squarespace.
If I could please receive some advice on this front or direction to who to contact, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
First up, take a breath: your main personal Google account is likely safe. What usually happens here is a scammer or domain spoofer used your personal email address as the secondary contact/recovery email when setting up a rogue Google Workspace trial. Because you don’t actually own the admin credentials for that bogus domain, you can’t log into the Admin Console or open a direct support ticket with Google Workspace support.
If no payment details (or fraudulent card details that get cancelled) are provided to Google, the Workspace trial will automatically suspend itself once the trial period ends, and the account will eventually be deleted by Google for non-payment.
Since you mentioned a matching domain was whipped up on Squarespace, that’s actually your primary leverage point. Submit a domain abuse or trademark impersonation report directly to Squarespace’s security/abuse team. If they take down or suspend the rogue domain at the registrar level, the Google Workspace trial tied to it becomes completely dead in the water.
