Hello everyone,
I’m writing to seek some clarification regarding the data source capabilities of the AppSheet Core plan that is included with Google Workspace.
According to the official AppSheet pricing page and all available documentation, the ability to connect to external SQL databases (like PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.) is a feature exclusive to the Enterprise plans.
However, in a recent discussion within a developer community, I learned of a case where a user on a Google Workspace plan was apparently granted the ability to connect their apps to a PostgreSQL database without upgrading to an Enterprise license. They mentioned this was enabled for their account a couple of months ago after making a specific request to Google.
This was very exciting news, and it has led me to a few questions for the community and the AppSheet team:
- Was there a recent, general update to the AppSheet Core plan’s features that now includes SQL database connectors for all Google Workspace users?
- Could this be part of a limited beta, pilot, or early access program that select customers can be invited to join?
- Or is it more likely that this was a specific, one-time exception for that particular user’s account based on their needs?
Any official information or insights from other community members who might have experienced this would be greatly appreciated. Understanding this is crucial for planning our future app development and architecture.
Thank you for your time and help!
