Since December 12, 2024, there’s been quite a noticeable increase in my Cloud Storage usage. I’ve tracked it down to data egress (see chart below), but I haven’t figured out how to get more details (who’s making these requests, etc..). There have been no changes to my project in the last year that would drive an increase like this, so what tools can I use to pinpoint the cause of this increase?
Dear david
SECTION A TO FIND THE BUCKET CAUSING HIGH EGRESS
I suggest you to label every Cloud Storage buckets that you have, something like this
Therefore you can see the usage from specific bucket based on its label in the monitoring section or the billing section. Something like this
Or
SECTION B TO FIND WHICH CLIENT/IP ADDRESSES ACCESSING YOUR BUCKET
Please enable usage logs. You will get the picture which IP Addresses accessing your bucket, and consuming the data egress. Caution: Can cause high cost as the generated logs could be massive, only enable in certain period.

Iza
Also, the above method only work to record the usage after the label installation. If you have not install any label in December 2024. You cannot determine what caused the spike in December 2024.
Thank you, @azzi . While the usage logs are interesting and pinpoint IP addresses, it’s still difficult to tell exactly what’s happening. I’ll keep digging, but thank you for this tip!
