"Unexpected error, please try again" when trying to forward domain

I have a domain in Google Cloud with the DNS managed by Google Domains. When I try to forward my domain at Google Domains/webhost/forward I get a “Unexpected error, please try again” message.

The browser console shows POST [https://domains.google.com/l/api/batch?brt=148](https://domains.google.com/l/api/batch?brt=148) 500

I contacted Google Domains support but they said they couldn’t help me because it is a Google Cloud Domain. Seems like something is broken in the shuffling between the products.

Any insight to help unblock me? My site has been unreachable for hours and I am trying to resolve ASAP.

Hi,

Can you answer the question below?

  1. Is your website working before the error happens?

  2. Can you share who hosted your website?

  3. Where did you configure your forwarding domain?

  4. Did you avail your domain under GCP Cloud domains?

I hope to have the answer to these questions to understand more about your concern.

  1. Yes, everything was working before I migrated to Google Cloud
  2. It is an Azure Static Web App
  3. To the https://<azure web app id>.azurestaticapps.net URL provided by that service
  4. I am not sure what you mean by “avail the domain”. I migrated it to Google Cloud Domains from GoDaddy and was hoping to use the standard Google Domains DNS over the Cloud DNS option for easier root and www redirect to the static site.

Thanks,

Jake
