Unable to reach an IP external to googlecloud from any VM instance of any zone

Hello,

I cannot reach server with IP 79.143.92.188 from any VM instance in any googlecloud zone.

Traceroute from a VM instance shows ‘* * *’ from the first step.

Traceroute from the server with IP 79.143.92.188 stops working after a few successful steps at IP 72.14.219.70, which belongs to google.

Traceroute from any server outside googlecloud infrastructure works fine.

Thanks!

To add more information. Ping or traceroute to any server within the same IP range works, for example 79.143.92.187 or 79.143.92.189.

There’s no firewall rule in the server with IP 79.143.92.188. The blocking seems to happen inside google’s network.

These points have been checked so far :

  • no egress limitation on google’s firewall
  • no firewall limitations on target server (79.143.92.188)
  • no configuration in routes, VPC
  • creating a new VM in any zone and pinging 79.143.92.188 does no reach target
  • creating a new VM on another project and pinging 79.143.92.188 does no reach target
  • traceroutes from target (79.143.92.188) end at around forth step in googles IP 72.14.219.70

Well, three days ago connectivity was restored. Blocked by googlecloud from about July 31th to August 17th.

Clearly something related to google networking o firewalling or whatevering but we’ll never know as it seems impossible to contact GoogleCloud team with the unusable feedback button in the console.

This is frustrating … now it’s happening again to other two servers from similar IP range : 79.143.91.225 and 79.143.91.245.

Traceroute from any googlecloud instance to any of these servers cannot get to even the first step.

Traceroute from these servers to any googlecloud instance die when reaching a google router.

Nobody on google’s side to talk too.
