Unable to access Vertex AI Publisher Models (404 Not Found Error)

Hello Team,

I am using Google Cloud Platform with a Google Workspace account and I’m unable to use any of the Gemini foundation models.

Summary of Issue:
I cannot access any foundation models (Publisher Models) in Vertex AI. All attempts, both from the web console (Vertex AI Studio) and via API calls, result in a 404 Publisher Model was not found error.

What I have already checked:

  1. The Vertex AI API is enabled for the project.
  2. My account has the “Owner” role for this project.
  3. In the Google Workspace Admin Console, the “Vertex AI” service is set to “ON for everyone”.
  4. Running the gcloud ai models list command returns an empty list for Google-published models.

Request:
I suspect that access to Publisher Models (especially the Gemini family) has not been provisioned correctly for my project.

Could you please check the status of my account and project and enable the necessary access rights?

@GSBMPS could you please check if you’re using the Gemini models from this list: https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/generative-ai/docs/models?

I’m using 2.5 Flash.

@GSBMPS I see. Can you please try using Global endpoint e.g. location=“global” if you’re not yet?
