Title: Balancing Technological Progress with Socio-Economic Realities: A Perspective

Hi everyone,

I am Than Htet, a member of this community. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn and exchange ideas with such a talented group of developers.

As we witness rapid technological advancements globally, I have been reflecting on how these innovations impact different societies, particularly in developing nations like my home country, Myanmar. While high-end technologies—such as robotics and AI—offer immense benefits, they also present significant challenges.

My key reflections are as follows:

  • The Economic Divide: While developed nations successfully integrate advanced robotics into hazardous industries, developing countries face hurdles due to high costs and currency dependencies. A major concern is how this technological shift might impact employment for vulnerable populations and exacerbate inequality. Progress often comes with dual consequences, much like the balance between light and shadow.

  • Ethical Considerations in Healthcare: While automation is powerful, I believe we must be cautious about fully automating healthcare. Because this field directly involves the sanctity of human life, I suggest that robotics should primarily serve as supportive tools (assistive technology) rather than replacing human judgment.

  • Preserving Culture through Technology: On a positive note, robotics and AI have great potential to preserve and promote cultural heritage. By using these tools to share our traditions globally, we can foster mutual understanding.

  • Responsible Usage: I believe that technology—especially AI and social media—is inherently neutral. The risks to our education and cultural values often arise not from the technology itself, but from how it is perceived and misused by individuals.

Technology should ultimately be a bridge for human progress. I am interested in hearing your thoughts: How can we, as developers, ensure that our innovations remain inclusive and ethical, especially when bridging the gap between developed and developing economies?

I look forward to learning from your insights.

Best regards,

Than Htet
