Agent builders,
We wanted to see what developers could really build with the new Agent Development Kit and Gemini under real-world constraints. So, we ran an experiment: the first Google Cloud AI Agent Bake-Off.
If you want to see how this tech holds up when the pressure is on, this is for you.
The challenge
We gave four developer teams a straightforward but challenging brief:
- The tech stack:
The Agent Development Kit (ADK) and Gemini models.
- The goal:
Build a functional, creative agent to solve a common retail problem.
- The constraint: A classic hackathon-style deadline.
Architectural patterns & code in action
The competition gave us a front row to watch and learn how developers implement real solutions with AI Agents. We saw practical examples of:
Multi-agent systems
: How they designed agents that delegate tasks and collaborate to solve a larger problem.Bi-directional streaming
: A look at an implementation for creating low-latency, truly conversational UIs.Multimodality
: Using models for dynamicimage
andvideo
generation within an application flow.Adaptive recommendations
: A look at how they built recommendation engines that respond and adapt in real-time.Voice API
integration: A practical approach to wiring up natural language voice commands.
