Quota Increase Request for Gemini API

Hello,

I am an independent developer actively building a new application called Yorika with the Gemini API (Project ID: yorika).

My development and testing volume is high, and I am consistently hitting my daily request quota, which is blocking my progress.

Could a Googler please assist me in increasing the “generateContent requests per day” limit for my project? I am on the Basic support plan and cannot file a formal ticket.

Thank you.

Hello @Michael_McConnel,

I invite you to check 4 things:

Concerning the Usage Tiers, note that:

Rate limits are tied to the project’s usage tier. As your API usage and spending increase, you’ll have an option to upgrade to a higher tier with increased rate limits.

The qualifications for Tiers 2 and 3 are based on the total cumulative spending on Google Cloud services (including, but not limited to, the Gemini API) for the billing account linked to your project.

Also, note that Tiers 3 don’t have any RPD (Request Per Day) limit.

Furthermore, there is a difference between Gemini Developer API v.s. Vertex AI. I believe that Vertex AI may be more permissive but I’m warning you against billing bomb. Unfortunately, I’m seeing a lot of these recently.

Hi Michael_McConnel,

In addition to @Leok’s response, since you’re on the Basic support plan, you can’t file a formal support ticket. However, you can still request a quota increase for your Gemini API project (yorika) through the Google Cloud Console. Just check and follow the steps outlined in the Request a quota adjustment, noting that the request will be subject to review.
