@Penelope - We did not migrate the badges from the old platform, due to restrictions. We do have an article about the trust levels and badges on the new platform here.

@artintelworks - Once you have joined a community, navigate to the specific product category, click new topic on that specific category, the new topic button will be located on the right side.

I see you are a member of Google Cloud and AppSheet.

How To Ask Questions In The Google Developer Forum For A n00b Like Me - Gabe Cruz @thebigdatajedi

How to Ask a Question in the Google Developer Forum

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you find the ā€œNew Topicā€ button and post your questions.

1. Task: Become Log In

To post in the forums, you must be a member of the Google Developer Program.

2. Task: Join a Relevant Group

To post in a specific area of the forum, you need to join the corresponding ā€œGroup.ā€

  • Subtask:

    • On the Google Developer Forum homepage, look for the ā€œGroupsā€ link in the menu on the left side of the page.

    • Click on ā€œGroupsā€ to see a list of available groups.

    • Find the group that is most relevant to your question (e.g., ā€œLooker Studioā€, ā€œAndroid Developmentā€, etc.).

    • Click the ā€œJoinā€ button for the group(s) you want to participate in.

3. Task: Navigate to a Specific Sub-Category

Sometimes, the ā€œNew Topicā€ button is not available on the main page of a group, but it will appear once you navigate to a more specific sub-category.

  • Subtask:

    • After joining a group, click on it to enter that section of the forum.

    • Look for a list of more specific topics or sub-categories.

    • Click on the sub-category that best fits your question.

    • Once you are in a specific sub-category, the ā€œ+ New Topicā€ button should appear, usually at the top right of the page.

4. Task: Increase Your ā€œTrust Levelā€

Many forums, such as the Google Developer Forum, have a ā€œtrust levelā€ system in place to prevent spam. New users may have some restrictions until they reach a higher trust level.

  • Subtask:

    • Take some time to read: Browse through various topics and read a few posts.

    • Give likes: If you find a post helpful or interesting, give it a ā€œlike.ā€

    • Reply to existing topics: Contribute to an existing conversation, reply to a few different topics.

    • By engaging with the community in these ways, you will increase your trust level, and posting privileges should become available.

I hope this step-by-step guide helps you find the answers to your questions in the Google Developer Forum!

Hello I’m Gabe Cruz - I just replied to another member that had the same question. Here is the link to my reply that has detailed instructions: My top 4 tips to get started in our new community - #89 by thebigdatajedi

Hi @chris, just saw your reply as it went to spam in my Outlook inbox. It’s a shame that GDG profile migration isn’t possible. Just wanted to add that I’m interested because my GDG profile is tied with my work email, and I’d prefer my GDG profile be tied to my own email, especially if I’m to change workplaces throughout my career. Maybe a solution could tie the GDG profile to both a personal and work email – not immediately obvious to me which approach I’d prefer. Anyway, appreciate your input and consideration!

Hello, I am gonna be honest. I don’t know how I ended up here. Few Months ago I was learning ML stuff and all. But now I’m here exploring and exploring, no idea what to do. But I’m feeling excited.

Welcome @Indrajit_Das! You might want to check out the Google Cloud > Build with AI category. @ilnardo92 from the Google AI DevRel team is posting a lot of great content there!
