One of our favorite things to do is to shine the spotlight on some of our most active Community members. One such Community member is @KAM , a member of our Community Advisory Forum living in Washington, D.C., who has helped us improve the site experience pre-launch and as our site continues to evolve after launch.
Read on for some great insight into how to best get your questions answered in the Community, a tip for anyone doing change management for end-users, and what it all has to do with a canned cooked pork product. ![]()
Please tell us about your experience with the Community.
The community is a wonderful place to meet, learn, discuss, and sometimes even commiserate with other Google administrators.
What do you get out of this Community? What compels you to contribute?
I love meeting other admins, finding out what problems they have, and learning about the solutions they’ve devised.
What are some tips and tricks that you have for the Community?
Blaise Pascal famously wrote, “I would have written a shorter letter, but I did not have the time.”
Take this to heart and spend the time to write your posts in a way that focuses on one issue with clarity and brevity.
What advice do you have for new Community members?
Spend some time reading other posts and challenge yourself to see if you can answer someone else’s question.
Have a problem that you solved? Post the solution so others can benefit.
How does the Community help you on a day-to-day basis?
The community is my turn to answer to check on everything Google related. Is there an outage, are others having a problem, what do they like about a new feature, etc. are all answered here and quickly!
How did you start using Workspace and what did you use it for?
I started using Workspace at my $dayjob when I helped bring the first US Federal Agency onto Google’s cloud.
What is your job and how does it tie into Workspace?
I am the principal evangelist at DitoWeb.com. We’re one of the first Google Premier partners and my job involves all things Google!
What’s a fun fact about you?
KAM is both my preferred name and my initials. But KAM is also a Canadian meat product similar to SPAM from Hormel. Since I’m an expert in email security and anti-spam, it’s also my avatar on LinkedIn.
Please share some cool tips and tricks about the products that you use most frequently.
Did you know that Google Workspace has a Visible Changes section that’s great for people doing change management for end-users? Ask me or your account executive at Google to nominate you for access.
Thank you, KAM, for taking the time to answer our questions!
