Hello Google Workspace developer community,
We are building a web workspace and need the original Google Meet meeting experience embedded inside our application: two-way audio/video, camera and microphone controls, in-meeting chat, participant controls, screen sharing, and joining/leaving the call without navigating to another tab.
We are specifically asking about Meet Embed SDK Web, not the Meet Add-ons SDK (our app inside Meet), Calendar meeting links, or a custom viewer using the Meet Media API.
The current Meet REST spaces reference mentions Meet Embed SDK Web under EntryPointAccess. However, the start-developing guide linked from the August 11, 2023 release notes returns 404 when we open it. We have not found current installation instructions or SDK-specific pricing.
Could the Meet team or a knowledgeable community member clarify:
- Is Meet Embed SDK Web currently available to third-party developers? Is it generally available, in a restricted preview, discontinued, or renamed?
- What is the current official documentation/package and access-request process? Are personal Google accounts eligible, or is a particular Google Workspace edition required?
- Does it provide the native Meet UI and the two-way meeting features described above within a third-party web origin? What features or browsers are unsupported?
- Is production use permitted for external users? If access is preview-only, what approval is required before serving end users?
- Can it be used with zero additional charges, without enabling Cloud Billing or purchasing a subscription/license? Please identify any required paid plan, SDK fee, participant/minute charge, or usage limit, and link the official terms/pricing. We need to confirm this before implementing anything.
If the SDK is no longer available, please confirm whether Google currently offers any supported way to embed the original Meet meeting UI in a third-party website.
Thank you for pointing us to the current supported route.
