Good morning,
I am experiencing some issues with Looker Studio and would like to understand what might be causing them.
I have a report connected to several data sources:
Despite the datasets not being particularly large, the report often does not load correctly. In some cases I receive the 429 (Too Many Requests) error, or the browser shows ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE.
Additionally, on the main Looker Studio page I sometimes see a red warning triangle with the message:
“An error occurred while loading results”.
I also tried duplicating the report and leaving only one chart, but the problem still occurs.
This is the first time this has happened, especially since the report has remained more or less the same size over time.
I also notice some strange behavior in the interface: when I click on certain buttons or menus, they sometimes open in the wrong position (for example in the top right of the screen) or appear extremely small, as if they were rendered incorrectly.
Is there any recommended configuration to avoid these issues, or could this be a temporary bug?
Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, I have also noticed this error in one of my many Looker reports few days ago. It happens when I want to edit any data source or anything else in the report.
Currently, I can only change the graph display without being able to see the data sources or metrics. Then I see Error 429 and none of my reports work for several minutes. I am also unable to load Looker Studio Overview .
Looker reporting is connected to Google Sheets, Google Analytics, and Google Ads. I have tried deleting cookies, using an incognito window, a different browser, and a different computer.
The result is the same and nothing works. Any tips or advice on how to fix this?
EDIT: If Looker loads correctly and shows me data sources and metrics, I cannot edit anything in the report—only a white field loads in the upper left corner, and after a moment, error 429 appears.
The error also occurs when I duplicate the entire report or share it with another Gmail account with edit rights.
I have been experiencing the same problem too.
Same exact thing. I’m working a big project, urgent one too, and I keep getting the very same behavior you mention. Notably, I also have GA4 (2 data sources), one absolutely manageable google sheet attached, and a data blend using GA4 and google sheet.
I felt the presence of google sheets has to do with the trouble we are experiencing. However, duplicating the report doesn’t seem to solve the issue, and neither removing the google sheet data source.
EDIT: What seems to have fixed it for me, was to remove a stacked bar chart, the only of the report, and it stopped throwing the error. Try removing the last chart you were able to add.
Same problem here. Noticed it 2 days ago.
I don’t thing it is related to a specific data sources types. I reproduced it with BigQuery data sources too.
Here how it triggers for me
-
Everything is fine, configuring charts
-
For some reasons when you select a chart, the properties panel is not filled with the chart configuration
-
You try to deselect, reselect the chart
-
The interface becomes super slow
-
boom error 429
-
too late to check any browser console error
-
you need to wait few minutes before getting back access to the interface with the same Chrome instance
I will send a message to the LS team and I hope that it will be fixed soon.
