Preview announcements

Preview feature releases enable you to try out new app features that are not yet fully supported. See Product launch stages.

  • No new preview features were released today.

The following tables summarize the preview features that are currently available.

Item Description
Feature AppSheet apps for desktop users (Preview)

The new desktop design, currently in preview, is optimized for desktop browsers, presenting a more complete view of information with a consistent organization and structure. The new desktop design lets users navigate their apps more easily and access information in context, and provides an efficient way to edit existing records without losing context. The legacy desktop design, enabled by default, provides an experience similar to the mobile and tablet device.

For more information, see:

- Community article
- Optimize the user experience using the new desktop design (Preview)

In addition, the AppSheet preview program lets app creators try out new app features that are not yet fully supported. For more details and to opt-in, see AppSheet preview program.

Could you elabrate a bit about this ? Not sure what sort of original issue was solved.

Hi @lizlynch and @Adam-google ,

I see that recently the AppSheet has a lot of new and recurring errors that, despite user feedback, have not been fixed yet:

  1. With Action linktofiltereview() for table, do not recalculate the group aggregate for the filtered table but re-display the subtotal of the original table.
  2. With the App editor, there is often a problem of not receiving changes when users edit the app structure such as adding views/ actions/ or writing formulas, even though only 1 person is editing the app at the same time and there is no notification. Old version error?
  3. With very basic features that are necessary even though users have requested them many times, such as wrap text for view decks, cards, and tables that have not been updated. Or the feature to set column widths, fix multiple columns, or distinguish between upper and lower case letters in some situations has not been added.

Thanks

@Koichi_Tsuji When multiple views are shown side by side in desktop (e.g. a table view on the left with a detail view on the right) they each have an option to “expand” the view (icon with two diagonal arrows) to make it fill the screen. Previously refreshing the page would reset this.

  1. Sounds like a bug, if I’m understanding correctly. Can you share any screenshots demonstrating the issue?

  2. Not sure what the expected behavior is but I will bring it up with the editor team.

  3. Sorry, I can’t say much about specific feature requests.

Do you mean that the users of your app do not see the updates after you save in the editor?

Hi @Adam-google ,

Recently Problem#2 it seem be that be solved.

The first problem is that the desktop mode filter function does not immediately return results in the subtotal column, but must synchronize the app to return results. I think this is a bug. Please check and process ASAP.

Hi @poy It seems like the AppSheet has fixed these errors, this week I no longer have the problem of not accepting changes to save when I edit the app.

Hi @lizlynch and @Adam-google ,

Please update the feature for the app editing interface to fit an app editing window at any computer screen resolution. Currently, the app editing window is too wide horizontally, app creators have to drag left to right to declare data, which is inconvenient, time-consuming and error-prone.
