Android updates

An Android update (v17.4) will be released to the Play Store and will be rolled out to all users gradually over the next week.

Bug	Fixed an issue where the barcode scanner would black out for a few seconds when performing consecutive scans rapidly.
Bug	Fixed an issue when drawing multiple drawings while offline. Previously the latest drawing would be saved multiple times instead of all preceding drawings.

Note: After updating the AppSheet Android app to 17.4, shortcuts created to apps in the Asia Pacific (preview) region will no longer work. These are shortcuts created by opening the menu on the AppSheet mobile app and selecting :Add Shortcut." Web URLs and other bookmarks will be unaffected.

Workaround: Recreate the shortcuts after updating the Android app to 17.4.

New community plat form is not easy to navigate from one place to others, and generally speaking, the UX/UI seems to be old-fashioned.
Some key features such as Direct private message and “Feature Idea” category are all gone.

For me, the previous one was better. And the old Discourse platform was far better.

Answering my own question.

The reason I was confused is that Tips and Tricks (the area I hoped to post in) doesn’t have a New Topic button.

Really? Tips & Tricks is only an archive now?

Thanks Steve, but I expect there would be no response back from “Googlers” even we tag them. It looks like they leave this forum controlled by the users, without Active engagement by Google members. This was justified by them for the last few years after the acquisition.

As far as I can tell, the only way to start a topic is from the following “AppSheet Q&A”.

When I start a topic from here, it seems that I can also select “feature-idea” from the “Select at …” drop-down.

However, “Tips & Tricks” was not found within this “Select at …” drop-down list either.

I too regret the loss of the direct private message feature.
I would very much like to see it restored.

Hi @Michelle and thank you for confirming that the Feature Ideas are gone. For us this is very sad, because in many of them users not only shared feature requests, but also workarounds. I know what you mean. But all the workarounds that we posted in feature requests are gone now.

Outrageous, and a ten-minute analysis would have prevented its removal. Now it’s all gone.

Dude, we went through all of this before when they migrated from Discourse to Khorus. Nothing’s changed. The Community is just for show, so they can say they have one.

Google no longer seems to have business continuity, which presents a significant risk. All those information is now in a black box or grey area, with locked and later removed as it is locked.
