Item Description
Feature Set input values dynamically in data-change actions and tasks

You can now set input values dynamically in a data-change action, as follows:

- When the action is used in the app, display a dialog to prompt the app user to enter values for the specified inputs. See Set input values dynamically for columns in a row by prompting user.
- When the action is used in an automation, the app creator sets custom input values when configuring the step. See Set input values dynamically when running an action on a set of rows in an automation.
- When the action is invoked from a Referenced Action (whether in the running app or in an automation), the Referenced Action can specify a binding expression using the input values. See Set input values dynamically when running an action on a set of rows (referenced actions).

In addition, when a task is reused in multiple steps in an automation, the app creator can dynamically configure the task for each step by setting input values. See Set input values dynamically in tasks.

Preview announcements

Preview feature releases enable you to try out new app features that are not yet fully supported. See Product launch stages.

  • No new preview features were released today.

The following tables summarize the preview features that are currently available.

Item Description
Feature AppSheet apps for desktop users (Preview)

The new desktop design, currently in preview, is optimized for desktop browsers, presenting a more complete view of information with a consistent organization and structure. The new desktop design lets users navigate their apps more easily and access information in context, and provides an efficient way to edit existing records without losing context. The legacy desktop design, enabled by default, provides an experience similar to the mobile and tablet device.

For more information, see:

In addition, the AppSheet preview program lets app creators try out new app features that are not yet fully supported. For more details and to opt-in, see AppSheet preview program.

I simply pray to my god not to see any routine new bugs and headaches to the users after releasing such new features to the platform… :folded_hands:

Regarding “Set input values dynamically in data-change actions and tasks”, you say it has been introduced to 25% of all users, but how long do you think it will take before all users have it?
