This question is related to Google Workspace Calendar and Resource Calendar (Meeting Rooms).
Hello everyone,
I observed an unexpected behavior in Google Workspace / Google Calendar Web and would like to know whether this is the expected design or if anyone else has experienced the same issue.
Test environment
・Google Workspace
・Google Calendar Web
・Meeting Room Resource Calendar
Steps to reproduce
1.Create an event in Google Calendar.
2.Add a meeting room Resource Calendar.
3.Set the event visibility to Private and save.
4.Edit the event and change the visibility from Private to Public.
Result
The Organizer’s event is updated to Public, but the corresponding event in the Resource Calendar remains Private.
However, when changing the visibility in the opposite direction:
Public → Private
both the Organizer’s event and the Resource Calendar event become Private.
My question
Is this the expected behavior of Google Calendar?
Specifically:
・Are the Organizer’s event visibility and the Resource Calendar’s event visibility managed independently?
・Is it expected that Public → Private is synchronized, while Private → Public is not?
・Is there any official documentation describing this behavior?
・If this is by design, is there a recommended way to keep the Resource Calendar’s visibility consistent with the Organizer’s event?
I’m using the Google Calendar web interface only (not directly calling the Calendar API).
I’d appreciate it if anyone who has encountered the same behavior or knows the expected design could share their experience.
Thank you!
