improve latency between 2 VMs (Singapore to Australia)

I set up 2 VMs (one in Singapore and other one in Australia) in the same VPC.

I find the the latency from Singapore to Australia VMs is about 94ms. Is there a way to reduce the latency and improve the speed between Singapore to Australia network?

I think you should consider this 3 points to optimize your latency to the fullest.

  • Use internal ip addresses so it uses the gcp backbone rather than go outside of it.
  • Consider upgrading (if not done already) your vms into a more network/processing intensive shape
  • Lastly you could consider to use DPDK for a more direct connection to your vms, which could reduce your latency a bit, but take consideration the restrictions/complications this might bring
