How do I stop the detail/deck view from appearing on a browser when a pin is clicked on a map from a dashboard?
I can control the data that appears as I have setup the relevant views.
I have set those views to only appear if TODAY() = “04/22/1970” and have tried other tricks mentioned in here about setting them by device. If I then set these views as normal views they don’t appear, so this bit is working.
I have tried to create virtual columns of the lat/long and removed the auto created inline action
Everything is on its own slice with no actions and the minimum columns.
I have tried different size windows in the dashboard.
On the phone preview window the deck/detail view does not appear, just on a browser.
It wouldn’t be too bad if it always opened at the bottom of the map instead of the right, but it is inconsistent.
What I want is for someone to be able to click a pin and see the photo, but as you can see below, when clicking a pin two thirds of the map is then taken over by this detail view meaning the user cannot quickly navigate the map to see the images.
I went through previous posts and I found that in the one below, @WillowMobileSys has suggested to use a Deck View which seems to resolve what you need:

Yes I have created both a detail and deck view on the same slice so I can control what is shown… what I want is for it to not appear at all, or at the very least be consistent so it always opens at the bottom of the map rather than the right hand side covering 2/3 of the map.
I’ve played with this and there simply is no way that I see to prevent the Detail or Deck view from being shown. Note that the device form factor is what drives WHERE those details are shown. Tablets and Desktops show them on the side while on phones the details are shown at the bottom.
EDITED: Actually, I’ve just realized that in a Dahboard view, using the “Small” size setting will also shown the details at the bottom of that panel.
Maybe a different approach? Include a panel with the list of addresses. With Interactive Dashboard on, Tapping on an address then highlights the pin on the Map, shows the details and the picture in the Image panel. In the Map View panel, it will zero in on the address associated with one tapped AND show the Details in the Map View by default - eliminating the need for separate Detail panel in the Dashboard.
Then a user can tap, tap , tap on the addresses to quickly see the images, where that address is on the Map with its details.

That is interesting, and is why in the editor preview the details appear at the bottom, or if set to an incorrect showif, they don’t appear - they will be hard coded/created differently for each device.

I think that it depends on the screen size. The map is currently set to small on my dashboard, and I have tried tall and large. On my widescreen monitor it always opened at the side. I then dragged the browser to my laptop screen and it started opening at the bottom (and I thought it was solved), but after a short while it started opening on the side again.
Thanks for the idea but I want to use this view to QA survey works, with the idea being we have the CAD drawing open on one screen and AppSheet on the other. As you move along the CAD drawing you can click on a map pin and see the photo from that location to check it against what was surveyed. Having to click through a list of text breaks this method.
I am going to mark this as solved. Not because I got the answer that I wanted, but because the answer is, no there is no way to not show it on a PC.
Understood. I assume you have the image in a separate panel to see it in a bigger size. I wonder though, have you tried adjusting the Detail View so it has ONLY the image in it? See example below.
My images get paired down to a smaller size, so not as useful. But since your images are larger, I wonder if the Detail View on the Map adjusts for the size of the image??
Thanks both, I am going to settle on something like this, and use the pop up for what its designed for (I’ll populate the details later). Dashboard with a map and detail view set to tall.
It’s not what I wanted as it still covers part of the map but its workable.
